Speed measurement, commonly expressed in revolutions per minute (RPM), is an important parameter for evaluating the performance of rotating equipment such as motors, engines, turbines, and mechanical drives. Accurate RPM measurement is essential for ensuring efficient operation, safety, and equipment longevity.
RPM calibration is a controlled procedure used to verify the accuracy of speed-measuring instruments, including tachometers, stroboscopes, and dynamometers. During calibration, the rotational speed of the device under test is compared with a traceable reference standard. Measurements are taken under defined operating conditions to determine whether the instrument is providing correct and consistent readings.
