Thermal Mapping / Validation
Thermal mapping, also known as thermal validation, is a systematic process used to confirm that temperature-controlled equipment or areas—such as incubators, ovens, stability chambers, cold rooms, refrigerators, and freezers—operate consistently within defined temperature limits for their intended application. This process is essential in regulated industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, and food manufacturing, where precise temperature control directly impacts product quality and safety
The thermal mapping process involves strategically placing calibrated temperature sensors at critical locations within the equipment or area under validation. Temperature data is continuously recorded over a specified duration under normal operating conditions. The collected data is then evaluated to assess temperature uniformity, stability, and any hot or cold spots within the system.
